Are there a set of guide lines of what would qualify as SED?

We have quite a few employees who are struggling financially and wondered whether assistance given to them could count toward SED if we do not require them to pay back the money.  Assistance would be in form of:

-          Paying for them/or their direct family to see a specialist for medical conditions & meds – for eg. One of their kids really battle with asthma and ends up in public hospital often and I am convinced that if she receives proper treatment and medicine, she would be able to live a better life.

-          Graduation costs them a fortune, hiring of outfits etc.

-          School fees and or books & stationary

-          We bought our staff each a worm blanket this winter?

We have other organisations that we support but we just thought that if we could help our own as well and get the SED points, that would be great.
