what must i improve when i apply for tender so that i can win the bid?

  • It is very difficult to say what you must improve without knowing your business or having seen any of your responses. In general the following principles need to apply before you start competing:
    1. You need to show that you have the right product / capability to perform work.
    2. Your price needs to be competitive in comparison to other suppliers.
    3. Focus. Be focused on doing what you are good at and demonstrate that focus when submitting a bid. Too often we see entrepreneurs wanting to be generalists - able to do anything. One cannot compete on that basis. Decide what your business offering is and stick to that. e.g. you cannot be a construction business and then try to sell school books or security services. That does not build trust in you business.
    4. The work needs to be within the constraints of your available capacity. A customer needs to feel comfortable that you can do the work well and complete on time.

Start competing on smaller deals and if you win some work deliver that very well. That way you will build up a reputation and demonstrable experience.
